:: Nanotechnology

Nanometre - a unit of measurement for length in physics, is one-billionth of one metre (10-9m). Its dimension is about the same as that of an atom or a molecule and metaphorically. When conventional materials are being sub-divided by technology to such an extent, its materialization could manifest in great changes as its massive potential energy is highly active and has possibilities beyond imagination. This is what has always been referred to as quantitative change to qualitative change?

The fundamental definition of Nanotechnology is that in a microenvironment that is within the dimension of one nanometre, the ability of man to understand and change nature shall be elevated to the atomic and molecular level. Through direct manipulation and rearrangement of the atom, the molecule, the atomic clusters or molecular groups such that they are re-assembled, re-aligned to create new substances or products under this new and advanced technology. Many in the scientific world have concluded, nanotechnology is the key to scientific developments in the twenty-first century. It is a revolution of technology and will be the revolution of industries too. The effects to mankind brought about by Nanotechnology shall be as profound and lasting as that of the industrial revolution, the technology revolution, and the development of antibiotics and nuclear weapon.?

A Better Understanding on Nano or Nanometre

Nano or Nanometre is a unit of length in physics. 1 nanometre (nm) equals 10-9 metre (1 millimetre equals 10-3 metre, 1 micrometre equals 10-6 metre) i.e. one over one million millimetre, one over one billion metre. To put it in a visual analogy, 1nm is about the diameter of a hair divided by a hundred thousand or, a nanometre-sized particle placed on a ping pong ball is equivalent in proportion to a ping pong ball placed on the Earth. We are unable to see such a tiny particle with naked eyes. This scale is equivalent to the atomic and molecular scale, which is often mentioned by people.

Application and Development of Nanotechnology in the world

Many countries have acquired breakthrough results in Nanotechnology research and development in varied fields. The series of achievements below clearly indicate that the advent of Nanotechnology will more than just initiate a new age of science and technology; it will become the mainstream technology in the 21st century.

Modern quantum elementary device and quantum lattice which are made by Nanotechnology surpass the limit of microelectronics. US had already successfully developed transistors of 6nm in size. And single electron transistors developed by American IBM Corporation and Japanese Hitachi Corporation has realized single electron control. According to the statements of authoritative experts, the precision of elementary device processing of the electronic industry in the whole world has already reached around the range 100 nanometres.. This signals that the global electronic industry has taken the lead to enter the Nano era. Nanometre stealth material "super black powder" developed by US can absorb 99% of radar wave and promoted the stealth technology development. A mini engine developed by US is astonishingly small that 1,000 of which can be contained in a 5 cubic centimetres small box. A helicopter, of only the size of hornet, made by Germany can lift off and fly. England recently produced the world抯 first robot to be on the Nano scale. China's Tsing-Hua University used the characteristics of strong binding force between Nano granular material and biological cells, to develop nano artificial bone? successfully implanting it into patient's body and with very good clinical effects. In brief,

 Nanotechnology will give full play in six main domains in the near future, namely biotechnology, medical health care, astronautics, energy research, electronics and agriculture. Nanotechnology is closely related to human. It will certainly initiate a new industrial revolution in the world and generate significant benefits to mankind.

::  Nano Material

What is Nano Material?

It is a material consisting of ultra micro grains, its compact aggregates and Nano micrites between the scale of 1 to 100nm. Nano material has extremely broad prospect for application in various fields.

What are the characteristics of Nano Material?

Nano material contains completely different sets of characteristics from conventional material. For example, Nano semiconductor material consists of energy gap splitting structure; Nano Iron material possesses very strong magnetization; conventional non-conducting material can be converted into conducting Nano material; other characteristics include unique far infrared emission, strong ultraviolet reflection, strong absorbability, strong catalytic effects etc. Scientists predicted that 21st century would be the nano era? an industrial revolution.
